چکیده
As Lower Cretaceous “Vigla” shales have been suggested as one of the main source rocks for Ionian Basin in Greece, a geochemical analysis was performed Kastos Island and Araxos peninsula, far from already studied areas. Results, based on Rock-Eval VI analysis, sample fractionation, biomarkers showed that could be low production capacity, are type II/III kerogen, can produce liquid gas hydrocarbons Island. Organic matter (total organic carbon-TOC 0.02–3.45%) samples is thermally immature, early stages diagenesis, accumulated an anoxic environment. Additionally, analyses confirmed combination marine terrestrial origin matter. On other hand, TOC (0.01–0.72%) peninsula shows fair oil potential IV kerogen. The results Odd–Even Predominance, OEP (27–31), (2), (1), valued AG1, AG2, AG5, AG6, indicated deposition sub-divided into three sub-basins (internal, middle, external) during its syn-rift evolution, different depositional conditions were developed sub-basin to other, with sedimentary thicknesses within same or among amounts TOC. fact there great difference indices between two areas period suggests probable exist. It seems richness related neighboring Apulian Platform, whereas poorness Gavrovo platform, differences restrictions produced regions. comparison previous studies indicates quality quantity either other.

Detailed organic petrography analysis were conducted on drill core and cutting samples from the Nahr Umr (Middle Albian), Burgan (Lower Albian) and Ratawi (Hauterivian) formations on the Soroosh and Nowrooz fields, NW part of the Iranian sector of the Persian Gulf. The thermal maturity of the Middle Albian Nahr Umr Formation appears to have reached the top of the oil window. The underlying Burg...

Commercial hydrocarbon discoveries in the Cretaceous of the southern Persian Gulf basin provide direct evidence that there is an effective petroleum system associated with the Cretaceous series. The revised models of thermal maturity in this region are needed to investigate lateral and stratigraphic variations of thermal maturity, which have not so far been addressed in detail for this part of ...
